The Mattyd Diet
"I lost 30 lbs in 3 months
on the Mattyd diet and I feel great!"
But seriously, I did.
First of all, eating is good. Pizza
tastes good. Beer tastes good. Desserts taste really good!
Keeping that in mind, how did I eat well and still stay
in shape? (See philosophy #5 and #6).
The Philosophies:
1. Carbs for breakfast - Protein the rest of the day.
2. Eat smaller meals and eat more often.
3. Avoid processed sugars and processed
oils. Avoid starches and grains. Minimize consumption of
bread, pasta and rice. If you have to eat starches and grains,
have them for breakfast and not more than a couple of times
a week.
4. Diet is only 1/2 of the solution. Exercize is the other
1/2! Do 30 min of running (or 40 min of aroebics, or 60
min of walking) 3 to 5 times a week. Do crunches once a
week and ensure you carry yourself with good posture.
5. One or two days a month - be bad and forget about the
diet. Eat anything you want for that twenty-four hour period
and don't worry about it.
6. ONE small taste of something once in a while doesn't
break your diet.
7. Be honest with yourself.
The Practical:
1 . Water: Drink at least 1/2 a gallon of
water a day. Very first thing in the AM, drink a glass (pint
+) of water and take a multi-vitamin.
2 . Breakfast: eat ANYTHING for breakfast. There's the whole
day to burn it off. Carbs are OK at breakfast. Try a ham
and cheese omlete, plain oatmeal, AND creamed beef piled
together on a plate and a coffee. On the weekend, have a
peanut butter and jelly sandwich on potato bread and a glass
of milk as breakfast instead. Drink water.
3 . Early Lunch: 8-12 oz milk, 1/2-1 cup crushed ice.1/2
cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 a banna, 1/2 an apple, and a
few drops of vanella extract. Blend all together and drink
it slow. Yummy. Drink water.
4. Later Lunch: Meat and vegtables. Drink water.
5. Dinner: Meat and vegtables and a glass of red wine.
The Detalis:
Keep celery and carrots around at all times. Snack
freely. In appetie emergencies - diet soda or a hot cup
of green tea will curb the craving.
Drink water.
Look at lables. THNIK healthy.
- Peanut butter: "Adams 100% Natural peanut butter". No
hydrogenated oils. No trans fatty acids. Ingredients: peanuts.
- Jelly: "Polaner all fruit". Ingredients:
fruit juice, berries, pectin.
Milk = skim!!! You'll get used to it.
Meat: beef, pork, fish, chicken (skinless). George Forman grills them all up nicely!
Vegtables: beans and corn are OK at lunch - try with
cury powder. Green veggies anytime - season with balsamic
vinegar and lemmon, fresh parsley, celentro and dill!
Fresh onions and garlic browned in olive oil.

A nutritionist would probally look at this program and burst a brain vein. This is called the Mattyd Diet because IT IS WHAT MATTYD
ATE and saw results while he was on it -- not because its
a recommended plan! Check with your doctor before atempting
any diet plan.
By the way, I stopped the diet and put most of the weight back on. Pizza and beer is good.
