New device for "Fighting
1/25"?
Designed by Mattyd and borrowing
the University of Notre Dame's "Fighting Irishman",
this device is currently in use by 1st Battalion, 25th Marine
Regiment (1/25), during their deployment to Okinawa, Japan.
Ski poles, representing the USMC's
"cold weather Battalion", are the guidons from
which the 1/25 banners unfurl. 6 stars represent the 6 States
of New England. The "Fighting Irishman" (modified: facing,
shaven, haircut, tanned, camouflage uniform and he's quit
smoking) represents The Battalions HQ, which is located
outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
1/25 intends to submit this design to HQ USMC for approval as
their official device, replacing the old
